Understanding AAC Audio Compression

Each profile has its own strengths and weaknesses, and it is important to choose the right profile for your specific needs. In my opinion, AAC-LC is the most widely used profile and provides a good balance between audio quality and file size. However, if you need to reduce file size even further, HE-AAC and HE-AAC v2 are good options. AAC Audio Settings
When it comes to AAC audio settings, there are several factors to consider, including bitrate, sample rate, and channel count. In my experience, the most important setting is bitrate. By adjusting the bitrate, you can significantly reduce the file size without sacrificing too much audio quality. However, it is important to find the right balance between file size and audio quality. As the book “Audio Compression: An Introduction” states, “The key to successful audio compression is finding the right balance between compression ratio and audio quality.” In my opinion, a bitrate reduction of around 50% is a good starting point.
