For example, a vocal amplifier is a typical device<br \/>\nfully analog in which the signal produced by the microphone<br \/>\nis processed and amplified but should not be modified in its<br \/>\nessential components to ensure &#8220;fidelity&#8221; of reproduction.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.technodabbler.com\/content\/images\/2014\/May\/Analog-vs-Digital.png\" alt=\"Analog Music in a Digital World\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Digital circuits (from the English word &#8220;digit&#8221; which can be translated as<br \/>\ndigit or number, and therefore are also called &#8220;numeric&#8221;),<br \/>\ninstead, they deal with signals that can only have two states, usually indicated<br \/>\nby the numerical values \u200b\u200b0 and 1, which in within the circuits correspond<br \/>\ntwo clearly differentiable signal values:<br \/>\nfor example, 0 may correspond to a voltage<br \/>\nbetween 0 and 0.2 volts, while the value 1 at a voltage between 4.5 and 5 volts.<br \/>\nAn element that can assume only two states represents a &#8220;bit&#8221; of information.<br \/>\nMost of the components of a common personal computer are made<br \/>\nwith digital circuits.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, many of today&#8217;s electronic devices<br \/>\nThey adopt mixed technologies, part analog and part digital.<br \/>\nConsider, for example, a compact disc player. The sign that<br \/>\nrepresents the engraved piece is stored in the form typically<br \/>\ndigital: a succession of microscopic areas that can be opaque<br \/>\nor reflective, each area corresponds to a value of 0 or 1 depending on whether<br \/>\nit is opaque or reflective.<br \/>\nThe sequence of values \u200b\u200b0\/1 constitutes a digital representation<br \/>\nthe acoustic signal, so the first part of the reproduction circuit<br \/>\nuses digital techniques.<\/p>\n<p>To play the original sound,<br \/>\nthe sequence of bits must first be transformed into an analog signal and this step is done<br \/>\na particular circuit called a &#8220;digital \/ analog converter&#8221; that has<br \/>\nthe purpose of translating the sequence of bits into an electrical signal<br \/>\nwhich is &#8220;Analogous&#8221; to the acoustic signal originally produced by the instruments<br \/>\nthat played the piece that is being recorded.<\/p>\n<p>Then the analog signal can be amplified (by a circuit<br \/>\nanalog, of course) and sent to the speakers for playback<br \/>\nacoustics.<\/p>\n<p>Rather, consider a<br \/>\nfully analog recording and playback system: a magnetic recorder.<br \/>\nIn this case, the magnetic tape in the cassette &#8220;stores&#8221; the signal<br \/>\nacoustics in the form of variations in the intensity of magnetization,<br \/>\nthat is, the intensity of<br \/>\nmagnetization along the magnetic tape is proportional to the signal<br \/>\noriginal acoustics.
